Belize tourism and the Belize real estate choices

Belize tourism and the Belize real estate choices. Belize is a fabulous travel destination but you can also transform in a permanent tourist if you explore the local real estate market in Belize and purchase a property there. First let’s talk about a few attractions in Belize and we will end with some tips about becoming a permanent tourist by buying a property in Belize.

Once a Mayan fishing village, Belize City was the country’s capital until 1970 after Hurricane Hattie wreaked havoc. Today, it’s Belize’s largest city and commercial center; a busy port, which welcomes cruise ships; and the country’s main gateway. Ramshackle Victorian buildings jostle along the narrow streets in town, but despite its gritty exterior, the city has a fascinating past featuring Mayans, colonial days, hurricanes, and fires. To learn more, visit the Museum of Belize, housed in a former prison; pop into Government House; or explore the Old Belize Cultural and Historical Centre, a museum, beach, and restaurant all rolled into one. Built in 1923, the Belize Swing Bridge connects the south and north sides of the city and is the world’s only manually operated bridge of its kind. A short drive from the city, visitors can explore the Altun Ha Archaeological Site and the excellent Belize Zoo, which emphasizes conservation and education. This is a great place to see many of the country’s native creatures in natural surroundings, most of which are rescue animals, including jaguars, tapirs, toucans, and howler monkeys. Since the city sits at the mouth of the Belize River, on the Caribbean coast, anglers will find excellent fishing opportunities a few minute’s drive from the center of town.

The Maya ruins of Xunantunich are located atop a ridge above the Mopan River near San Ignacio, within sight of the Guatemala border. Most of the structures date from about 200 to 900 BC. Xunantunich consists of a series of six plazas surrounded by more than 26 temples and palaces. At 40 meters (130 ft) the pyramid known as “El Castillo” is the tallest structure in Xunantunich and the second tallest structure in Belize, after the temple at Caracol.

Spotlighted in the hit 1986 Madonna song “La Isla Bonita”, San Pedro Town is the colorful and eclectic capital of Belize’s largest island, Ambergris Caye. Located on the southern tip of the island, San Pedro is a smorgasbord of restaurants, bars, and colorful buildings that regularly pulse to the sound and rhythms of festivals and street parades. Domestic air flights and water taxis from Belize City make it easy to get to, but you’ll only need a pair of flip flops or a golf cart to make your way around this lovely town.

Belize attractions and climate makes buying a house here a sweet project. Imagine living permanently there… the joy. Many people often ask us why the Platinum Coast (West Coast) & Secret Beach is just beginning to undergo rapid development given its beautiful beaches and sunset views and the story goes back to when the island was first developed. As many of you already know, in a tourism destination the most coveted coast is almost always the West Coast because of the amazing sunsets. The island of Ambergris Caye was however originally developed on the East Coast to accommodate the reef and the fisherman who wanted to get out first thing in the morning to fish. The East coast of Ambergris Caye has been developed leaving the west coast to be forgotten, until now. See extra details on Mahogany Bay Belize.
