Awesome tourist attractions Sentosa? Set in lush secondary rainforest, the Night Safari is a must-see for visitors. The world’s first night zoo (opened in 1994) allows you to witness what over 2,500 nocturnal animals from 130 species get up to after dusk, in naturalistic habitats and without barriers, via the use of special lighting techniques. Lions? Check. Rhino? Check. Leopards? Check. Flying squirrels? Check! Manatees, crocodiles, flamingos and monkeys are just some of the 5,000 beasties you’ll encounter in this river-themed wildlife park, which boasts the world’s biggest freshwater aquarium and a panda exhibit housing the cuddly couple Kai Kai and Jia Jia. The River Safari is split into two zones: the Rivers of the World, which showcases animals from eight rivers including the Congo and Yangtze, and Wild Amazonia, where you can come face-to-face with over 30 animals from the rainforest on a boat ride aptly named Amazon River Quest.

The Singapore Flyer is the world’s largest observation wheel. A one-of-a-kind experience and built over a 3-story terminal building, the Flyer is 150 metres in diameter, 165 metres high, and travels at 0.21m per second (it is some 30 metres taller than the famous London Eye!). With breathtaking panoramic views that are so radically different during the day and at night, it’s hard to choose the best time to take a ride. Passengers will get to see such city sights as the Singapore River, Raffles Place, Marina Bay, Empress Place and the Padang.
As military strongholds go, Fort Canning has had a long and varied life. Built in 1859, the fort was an essential site for Singapore’s defense. Now in peacetime, the original building is home to modern performing arts troupes, and the park regularly sees picnics, concerts, theater performances, and festivals. Other attractions at the park include relics from Singapore’s early history, from as far back as the 14th century, and Sir Stamford Raffles’ personal bungalow. Guests can also see a replica of the spice market Raffles established in 1822, as well as the ASEAN sculptures that were erected in the 1980s.
Besides the orchid-inspired scents, Singapore Memories has also revived a range of old and heritage perfumes from Singapore’s past like the award-winning Singapore Girl! With a total of 38 different variants of perfumes and room fragrances, you’ll definitely find a scent that suits you! Other gifts suggestion: Kaya is a creamy jam made from coconut and eggs (sometimes with added pandan leaf extract for extra fragrance), perfect to be eaten with toast. Get yourself jars of Ya Kun’s very own kaya (available from SGD 4/jar at any Ya Kun Kaya Toast outlet) and you can have your very own Singapore-style breakfast back home. Tip: As the jars can’t be carried onto your flight (due to the 100ml liquid limit), you may have to check them in. Wrap your jars of kaya with extra layers of clothes or bubble wrap them to prevent the jars from breaking or cracking in your luggage.
An ideal corporate gift is the one on which you can add a little message along with your branding without making the gift look weird. Singapore Memories allows you to do that with its clear box with just one side with the brand logo. You can add a sticker or a card with the branding of your company along with a message for the person to whom this gift will be given. This can come in handy when you are giving them away to your clients, colleagues and business associates reminding them about your brand and association. If you’ve ever burnt herbs for incense in your home, you’ve experienced yet another simple way to interact with the beneficial aspects of plants. When we use incense in a purposeful way it’s called smudge. Smudging is the burning of herbs in a ceremonial way. Most of the herbs that have been used around the world have a beautiful scent that you’ll love to have throughout your house. When you burn dried herbs or resins, you’ll need a heat tolerant vessel. Traditionally this is an abalone shell with a bit of sand in the bottom. You might also use a charcoal disc beneath the herbs to keep them smoking, especially in the case of resins. Here are some plants commonly used as incense and why they are burnt. Try growing some of them on your own property.
